Introducing my little man!
I fell in love with pitbulls after working at my local SPCA. I met some amazing dogs and promised myself that someday I would bring a pitty into my life. After working with a wonderful dog named Dozer a dog who stole everyone's hearts, he was such a sexy man! I became very fond of blue-nose pits but didn't think I would ever come into a position where I would be willing to shell out the money for one. I am not a big fan of the fad that has sprung up around them in my area. I told myself that I also wanted a puppy (that would be ideal) but I wanted a rescue dog too. Such a wishlist! When would a dog like that ever come along? The Universe answered with Orion. A few months after I no longer worked for the SPCA I was visiting my friend who is an Animal Control Officer. It was a slow day so she offered to take me on a ride-along. We picked up one dog found running at large and then another that had been hit by a car and had passed away. Lastly we got a call about this lady who had found a "bulldog" puppy wandering in her neighborhood. I live up in northern Canada. The winter temp for that day was around -15C. That is how Orion landed in my lap. (He rode to the shelter in the front seat with me.) I was not willing to consider that I could adopt this puppy, even though it was love at first sight. But my ACO friend beat it into my head that this little guy was meant for me. After the statutory 72 hours was up, no one had come to claim him and he officially became mine. There is a slim possibility that he is a grandson of Dozer. We estimated him to be around 9 weeks old. He weighed 17lbs at the time of adoption. I can not express what Orion means to me. He's my little man. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us. |
